A group of people line up at an aid distribution in Tacloban City, Philippines

On 8 November, Typhoon Haiyan, one of the most powerful storms on record, struck the Philippines. An estimated 11.8 million people are affected, 995,000 people remain displaced.

Help the millions of Filipinos who have lost jobs, homes and businesses to overcome this terrible crisis.

UNDP URGENTLY NEEDS US$20 million to begin immediate debris clearing activities for 1 million people in provinces directly affected by Typhoon Haiyan. Clearing debris is a first step and will reduce threats to life and health caused by unsanitary environmental conditions. Clearance activities will also provide an income to over 200,000 affected people who have lost jobs or businesses due to the storm, preventing a slide backwards into further poverty.

$100 provides reconstruction and clearance work to a typhoon affected person for approximately three weeks

$20 clears more than 78 cubic meters of rubble from roads, bridges, schools and homes.
